Chara Community

Creative Academy

A home for serious creative education on 18 acres in Lithonia, Georgia. Master teachers, real curriculum, documented learning, and a faculty community committed to the craft.

The Creative Academy is built on continuity — returning to a discipline over time, developing skills through sustained practice, and learning alongside others who care about craft. Studios are the homes where this practice lives.

The Studios

Each studio has its own focus, language, and methods — unified by attention to craft.

How Studios Work

Across all studios, learning happens through these formats:

Classes

Multi-week

Skills and understanding develop gradually over time. Return each week, build on what came before.

Workshops

1–3 hours

Focused sessions exploring a specific theme, technique, or skill. Concentrated and complete.

Intensives

Half or full day

Deep immersion for those ready to focus. Extended time allows for breakthroughs.

Professional Trainings

Varies

Studio practices applied to specific fields. Communication, facilitation, applied creativity.

Multi-Teacher Model

Studios are led by a range of teachers. Some offerings are taught by Chara's founder; many are led by visiting or guest teachers whose work aligns with the ethos of this place.

The studio's identity is shaped by quality of teaching, not a single method or personality. Virtual and in-person offerings both have a place here.

Studios welcome beginners, experienced practitioners, and people returning after time away.

"What unifies the work is attention to craft, respect for the learner, and the belief that creative skills can be taught - not just caught."
